The world leader in quality sparkling wines, Freixenet, has once again achieved success thanks to the quality of its wines and cavas. On this occasion, the Freixenet Special Selection Rosé and White Wine Collection and the Freixenet Cuvée DS cava have been awarded gold medals at the XX Bacchus International Wine Competition , while the new Freixenet Carta Rosé has obtained a medal of silver.
The Freixenet Wine Collection is made up of a white wine and a rosé wine from the new “Special Selection” range, characterized by their fresh and fruity character. Specifically, the White Wine Special Selection of Freixenet has a marked Mediterranean and refreshing character. Macabeo, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay grape varieties predominate, with hints of Muscat and Xarel lo. This bright, pale yellow wine has an intense fruity character with hints of citrus and a long acidity, resulting in a fine and elegant wine that can accompany any type of meal.
For its part, the Rosé Wine Special Selection is aromatic and elegant and is bathed in the Mediterranean sun. It is a pale pink wine in which the Garnatxa grape predominates, with touches of Merlot and Tempranillo from the DO Catalunya. It is a fresh wine, with a subtle aroma of forest fruits and that offers a sensation of summer fruits in the mouth.
Freixenet Cuvée DS is an emblematic cava that pays tribute to our co-founder Dolor Sala. At sight it has a bright golden yellow color. With a fine and persistent bubble, marking a good crown. On the nose, the powerful aromas of aging stand out, elegant, aromas of ripe fruit, compotes, bakery, honey, toasted, dried fruit and something balsamic. Tastes of long aging appear, notes of ripe fruit.
Finally, the Freixenet Carta Rosé cava , launched at the end of 2020, is made from Trepat and Garnacha grape varieties. Carta Rosé is a young and fresh cava, with a lively and bright strawberry colour, and abundant medium-sized bubbles. In addition, it presents floral and laurel aromas, fused with notes of red fruits and exotic fruits, as well as great freshness and lightness on the palate. The recognition of the Bacchus awards once again highlights the high quality of Freixenet cavas.
The prestigious Bacchus contest , organized by the Spanish Union of Tasters (UEC), has brought together 83 expert tasters from 21 different countries in Madrid. After analyzing almost 1,700 wines and sparkling wines from the main producing regions of the world, the jury of the contest has decided to reward the quality of Freixenet wines and cavas with gold medals, reserved for wines and cavas that obtain scores above 88 points.
