The Freixenet Group is awarded five medals at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles
Segura Viudas Brut Reserva is awarded the gold medal. Four more cavas from Segura Viudas and Freixenet have received silver medals.
Five Cavas from the Freixenet Group were awarded medals at the prestigious Concours Mondial de Bruxelles, which was held in the Czech Republic. Segura Viudas Brut Reserva Cava picked up a gold medal while Segura Viudas Brut Rosé pink Cava and the Segura Viudas Organic Brut Cava each picked up a silver medal. Finally, the Freixenet Cavas Elyssia Gran Cuvée and Elyssia Pinot Noir also have received silver medals.
These new endorsements demonstrate the high quality of the Cavas made at the Freixenet Group cellars. The gold medal winner Segura Viudas Brut Reserva is made from hand harvested grapes, brought to the winery in 25 kilo capacity boxes to avoid damage to the grapes’ integrity. Segura Viudas Brut Reserva spends a minimum of 15 months in bottle ageing.
For its part, Segura Viudas Brut Rosé pink Cava is made from 90% Trepat, a grape variety which has its origins in the Conca de Barberà region, and is not widely grown. Segura Viudas was a pioneer winery in the recovery of this varietal. Segura Viudas Organic Brut has been created in perfect harmony and faithfulness to the responsibility of the Bodega for environmental issues and for its hundred year agricultural tradition.
The silver medals awarded to Freixenet have gone to the Elyssia Cavas, belonging to the Cuvées de Prestige collection. Elyssia Gran Cuvée Cava is a rich, but Brut Cava, designed for lovers of Chardonnay, delivering bright aromas of acacia blossom and honey. For its part, Elyssia Pinot Noir typifies the true essence of Pinot Noir grown in the Penedes. Intense pink in colour, with developed red fruit flavours on the palate.
