Freixenet Group, world leader in sparkling wines, continues to win national and international awards in prestigious wine competitions, which certify the company’s commitment to the highest quality of its Freixenet and Segura Viudas cavas, as well as the extensive family tradition and centuries-old experience in wine making.
Both brands have been awarded many medals for the excellence of their cavas, as well as the effort and talent of the teams that make them. In this sense, Freixenet and Segura Viudas have been awarded in competitions and blind tasting wine guides of recognized international prestige, among which are Mundis Vini, Berliner Wine Trophy, Peñín Guide, Giroví, Barcelona Rosé International Bubble Awars and the Contest Brussels World Cup – Rosé Edition.
Mundus Vini, founded 15 years ago and considered one of the benchmark events in the wine sector, has awarded the gold medal to Freixenet Cordón Negro Brut, one of the brand’s most recognized cavas at an international level, in its Spring Tasting 2022 edition held in Germany. In the same contest, this cava has been highlighted as the best wine in the Best of Show Retail Market category. This recognition is added to the recent gold medal awarded to Cordón Negro in the prestigious international contest The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships, together with the Regional and National Trophy – which implies being considered the best cava in the world and the best sparkling wine in Spain. In parallel, Mundus Vini has also awarded silver medals to Segura Viudas Brut Rosé, the only cava included in the Top 10 of the best sparkling wines in the world by Effervescents du Monde in 2021.
The Berliner Wine Trophy, one of the largest wine competitions in the world that is sponsored by international organizations such as the International Organization of Vine (OIV) and the International Union of Oenologists (UIOE), has awarded the gold medal to Freixenet Carta Nevada Semi Seco in its winter edition. This new recognition joins the silver medal that Freixenet cava previously received at the prestigious The Champagne & Sparkling Wine World Championships in 2021.
On the other hand, the cavas and wines from Freixenet and Segura Viudas are among the protagonists of the Contest of Wines and Sparkling Wines of Catalonia – Giroví 2022. Specifically, Freixenet Cordón Negro Brut, Freixenet Carta Rosé and Freixenet Especial Rosé Selection were awarded with the Grand Gold medal. At the same time, and with its recently released image, the emblematic Cava Freixenet Elyssia Gran Cuvée was also awarded the gold medal, along with the silver medals awarded to Freixenet Cuvée DS and the Freixenet Selección Especial Blanco wine. Within the framework of this event, Segura Viudas also obtained great results. The elegant and harmonious Segura Viudas Brut Vintage Gran Reserva cava was recognized with the Grand Gold medal, while Segura Viudas Brut Rosé received the silver medal.
The Barcelona Rosé International Bubble Awards, organized by the specialized newspaper Va de Vi, is another of the events that has awarded Grupo Freixenet the gold medal for its Freixenet Italian Rosé in the granvas category. Likewise, it has awarded the gold medal to the Freixenet Carta Rosé Extra Sec rosé in the category of traditional method of up to 18 months of aging. While Segura Viudas Brut Rosé has been recognized with the silver medal in the category of traditional method from 18 to 24 months of aging.
For its part, the Spanish wine manual Guía Peñín has valued several of the group’s cavas. The prestigious cava Segura Viudas Reserva Heredad 2015 Gran Reserva Brut has obtained a high rating of 93 points, with 93. Segura Viudas Brut Rserva achieved a total rating of 89 points, followed by Lavit Brut Nature, which had 88 points. Likewise, Guía Peñín valued the emblematic Elyssia Gran Cuvée with 90 points and also highlighted cava with ice with a score of 87 points, and Freixenet Cordón Negro, with a total of 88 points.
Other cavas from the company, such as the elegant Cavas Elyssia Pinot Noir and Carta Rosé de Freixenet, have also been recognized with silver medals at the famous Concours Mondial de Bruxelles – Rosé Edition.
These awards also recognize the pleasant aromatic and fruity profile of the winery’s cavas, made from their own yeasts selected decades ago by the co-founder of the winery and great winemaker Dolors Sala, and which have been maintained by the winery’s winery team. company thanks to its commitment to innovation and the latest technologies.
